Back in 2004 Drake wasn’t Drake. He was Jimmy the kid in the wheelchair on Degrassi Jr. High, played by young Canadian actor Aubrey Graham. I remember watching this behind the scenes segment “Unscripted” on Degrassi’s popular kid/basketball star/then gunshot-wounded-wheelchair-bound star Jimmy, and thinking “oh this kid, he thinks he’s going to be a rap star, that’ll never happen”. Maybe I was a hater, and maybe now I really only dig Drake because he was once Jimmy from Degrassi. That’s major. This clip is touching. Aubrey is super charming hanging with his grandma, driving an Acura (…’Mercedes or BMW, I think are pretentious personally’…) and showing off his piles of songwriting notebooks. #yolo
